Tightly Wound

the fire in my chest that wraps
around my heart, pours up to my throat
i can feel the heat pumping in my skull
my eyes want to close– morning, noon and night
unpredictable state of mind
they come and go, i push them all away
but am learning by choice to keep some people close
lonely times, moving time
uninspired, broken mind
days pass, they all seem the same
trying to find color amongst the gray expanse
i could sleep forever
i’m finished here
but holding on, for some reason…
